Entre 2021 et 2024, Antoine Lecharny a entrepris un travail photographique consacré à la mémoire des fusillades massives des Juifs en Europe de l'Est et dans les pays Baltes. En l'absence d'importantes traces visibles de ces massacres, il a photographié des paysages retournés à une relative banalité qui dit l'oubli palpable de l'Histoire à l'oeuvre. À ses côtés, l'historienne Annette Becker fait sortir le passé de l'effacement en nous confrontant à l'horreur et au chaos. Par le recours aux sources disponibles, nous retournons vers le temps du génocide, entre 1941 et 1945. Ensemble, les auteur·rice·s portent un regard frontal et documenté sur ce pan de l'Histoire de la Shoah, peu connu aujourd'hui encore.

Between 2021 and 2024, Antoine Lecharny conducted a photographic project dedicated to the memory of the mass shootings of Jews in Eastern Europe and the Baltic states. In the absence of any significant visible traces of these massacres, he photographed landscapes that had returned to a state of relative banality that speaks to the palpable fading of history from the collective memory that is under way. At his side, historian Annette Becker has sought to rescue the past from oblivion by bringing us face to face with the horror and chaos of this period. Through the various sources that remain, we are taken back to the time of the genocide, between 1941 and 1945. Together, the authors undertake a direct, documented survey of what is still a little-known chapter in the history of the Holocaust.
